Blended Families

Blending a family with children from previous relationships can take all the fun out of marriage. Blended families function differently than nuclear families. It is important to understand the dynamics, set realistic expectations and have a deliberate plan to grow the Christian stepfamily.
We have experienced the ups and downs of blended family life raising six children for the past 12 years. Along the way, we have encouraged many couples by directing them The Smart Stepfamily by Ron L. Deal. We highly recommend this book for anyone in the tangles of a blended family, as well as those contemplating a marriage with children. Ron also has an excellent web site at smartstepfamilies.com, which offers articles and information on upcoming seminars.
If you are living in a blended family, what are some of the issues you have encountered? What have you done to build strength and harmony in your blended family?
If you would be interested in sitting down for coffee to chat about your blended family, contact Cindy or Jim Thienes.
